Database Purchasing Consortium
On-line collections allow students and teachers to access and use their school library resources from any location at any time. This service assists schools in the purchase of on-line databases and learning resources in a cooperative environment. Services include database awareness sessions, database trial periods during the school year, cooperative purchasing and coordination of training sessions for librarians and teachers.
On-Site Coordinator
A part- or full-time person located on site to address districts' library information systems and technology needs is available through this service. Assistance will be provided for hiring and coordinating this effort between school that wish to share an individual.
Project Management
Library Automation and Technical staff assists districts with any library technology initiative through comprehensive planning, proposal generation, procurement, financing, monitoring, installation and support. Library Automation staff manages projects where funding comes from various sources such as cash, install, purchase, bond and capital projects.
Technical Services
This service develops a customized response to the specific library technology needs of the requesting district. Typical projects may include: transfer of library records to a machine-readable format, custom cataloging, non-book cataloging, bibliographic record updating, batch processing, authority control service, MARC record enhancement, the purchase and installation of barcode readers, maintenance of barcode assignments, tape extracts and data loads of converted records, global systems' operations to improve cataloging data, oversight of the transfer of student data into the circulation system, coordination of training for district library staff with hands-on system training, and coordination of staff to assist in preparation of collection and inventory.
